Sonya Pleshcheva

The Vibe Coding Researcher: From Data Science to Instant Prototyping

In this fireside chat, Sonya shared her "new addiction" - vibecoding - a revolutionary approach that infuses intuition and creative flow into traditionally rigid technical processes. She showcased how coding with AI has transformed her work across data science projects, startup development, and collaborative innovation.

Her approach demonstrates how large language models can act as a learning catalyst, turning code into a readable and iterative teaching tool. She describes vibe coding as a creative process, not just a technical one — a way to prototype ideas at the speed of thought.

Advocacy & Inclusion
Sonia challenges long-held stereotypes about who can code:
« There’s this kind of pseudo-scientific idea that the world is split between, like, you’re either a literary person or a mathematical person… to be a programmer, you need to be born a certain way. Which is not true. And with all these AI tools, the learning curve is so much more accessible. »

She encourages women and non-technical founders to use AI tools as a bridge into technology rather than a barrier: « There are tools out there for you that can get you started. »

An aspiring data scientist and serial entrepreneur who's vibecoding on a daily basis. Currently part of the prestigious Talent Kick 2025 cohort, Sonya brings a unique blend of mathematical rigor and entrepreneurial spirit to everything she touches. With a Bachelor's in Mathematics and a Master's in Economics (Econometrics track) from the University of Geneva, where she achieved an outstanding 6.0 on her thesis exploring ESG and stock performance through machine learning, Sonya combines analytical excellence with creative problem-solving. Her academic journey perfectly complements her entrepreneurial ventures, including co-founding Bli Bli Dressing in 2022 and her current data visualization work at MeteoSwiss. Current Projects AI Valuation App for Luxury Handbags – Created an AI-powered tool that estimates handbag resale prices for consignment clients. The prototype was built in just a few months using AI-assisted coding and recently received CHF 5,000 in seed funding through the Talent Kick incubator. Adobe Hackathon Winner – Winner of an Adobe hackathon, now collaborating with Adobe to develop an add-on for Adobe Express, focused on accelerating creative workflows through automation. Research & Thought Leadership Coming from a Python and backend background, Sonia had long found front-end development intimidating: « JavaScript and front-end always felt intimidating… all these curly brackets and semicolons. » AI-assisted coding transformed her learning curve: « You don’t have to start from scratch anymore. You can ask AI to generate a small project, read through it, and learn. »
