Lea Peyrere

Léa Pereyre, representing the Claire+Léa design duo, transforms industrial robotics into organic, breathing sculptures through their Anima series. Two of the presented sculptures - Anima I and II, developed in collaboration with ETH Zurich's PATHOS platform - are inspired by nature’s organic shapes and behaviours as they respond to human presence. « the robotic tools from PATHOS were developed to be used by someone not being able to program, so ourselves, therefore, we had the chance to not only design the shape, but also the motions and behaviours of these robotic creatures » Pereyre noted. Their installations, exhibited at different occasions such as the WEF at Davos, AI for Good at ONU or the Design Parade at Hyère, keep questioning the aesthetic and the place we give to new technologies in our digital world. Extending into educational robotics at EPFL, Pereyre collaborates with students from Master Robotics and invite them to rethink the use of technical tools through poetic and sensitive approaches. For example, her latest project, Anima IV, uses machine learning to translate music into robotic movement, allowing an ABB robotic arm to "dance" on any kind of music compositions. This project was developed in the frame of a semester project at the REHAssist lab, and is now exhibited at the Swiss Design Award 2025 at Art Basel.
